Strike Day 57 Saturday
Strike day 57 Saturday; The strike is over and back to work I’m going on Monday. Did we win that is hard to say nobody really wins in a strike not the company not the union. What I hope for is that in four years we don’t have a repeat. Now in four years if we do have a repeat what am I going to do, travel will be ready.
Feel free to leave a comment on what you did during the strike.

Strike Day 40 Wednsday
Strike Day 40 Wednesday,
Vegas Baby left on Alaska Airlines flight 602 in the morning arriving at about 11:20 AM and returned on flight 613 that left at 8:30 PM getting home at 11:00 PM. Any time you return home from Vegas with more money than you left with is great if not surprising. My whole goal was to play in a poker tournament at the Tropicana which I did. Took two weeks “strike pay” $300 dollars kept a record of all the expenses see the break down at the bottom of this post.
When you arrive skip the taxis and the shuttle vans take the city bus ask for an all day pass $2.50 and off to the transit center. Transfer to the Deice bus that runs on the strip costs 50 cents more took me about 20 minutes from the time I got off the airplane to the time I was in the Bellagio. Walked around a while registered for the 2:00 PM tournament at the Tropicana $50 + $10 for extra chips. To the buffet for lunch $11.67 plus a tip for the waiter he was not so good so only $1.00. Went down to the pool and lounged for a while in the sun yes I said sun.
Went over to the roulette table and got $30 in chips played only the 17 black and the sides, the 2 for 1 rows, and odd. Guess what 17 black hit now I received $103 for the chips on the inside and $35 for the bets on the outside after playing a while had $164. Got up and left cashed $125 and tried my luck at black jack with no luck. Off to the tournament bottom line fourth (no money) played for 2 and ½ hours. After the tourney walked around back on the Deice bus 50 cents transfer to the 109 bus and back to the airport in 15 minutes. Bottom line came back with more than I left with $14.83 Profit and had a good time.
Expenses
$ 3.50 City Bus
$11.67 Buffet Lunch
$ 1.00 Tip at the Buffet (Small tip I know)
$60.00 Poker tournament
$ 4.00 Drink tips at the poker table
$30.00 Chips
-----------
$110.17 Total Expences
Income
$125.00 Cashing in Chips
---------
$14.83 Profit

Heather after her jump a big smile after all she did not die. I think it’s going to be my turn next.
On her way down, she did a tandem jump.

Strike Day 35 Friday
Strike Day 35 Friday.
Did not fly anywhere this week spent the week getting the house ready for winter. But what last week it was with the free fall in the stock market.
This is a chart for Boeing for the last three years.
I see that Boeing is down more than 50% in the last year closing at $41.80 today. Boeing is probably an ok buy. Why do I say this well the strike will be over sometime (after all "It's Our Time Sometime") and Boeing stock has fallen more than the Dow. Boeing dividend is $1.60 a share that translates to a 3.6% dividend yield the question is will Boeing cut its dividend? I don’t think so!
Next week, Might try to go to Boston.

Strike Day 27 Thursday
Strike day 27, Thursday
Make a quick trip down to Portland Oregon for the day. Flew down on Horizon Airlines had a bumpy flight down. Portland like San Francisco has good public transpiration the light rail is right at both airports. Didn’t do much in Portland but walk around there is a nice park along the Willamette river right downtown.
The flight back was nice and on Horizon Air you get FREE beer or wine. What’s up next week I don’t know, however I am still planning on going back to the Kennedy Space Center for the Shuttle launch.

Strike day 26 October 1st
Well it’s the first day of October strike day 26.
Ski season is just around the corner. In the winter time when I’m not working at Boeing (or Striking) I work weekends with the Ski Patrol up at Snoqualmie Pass. It is now the time of year to get all the Ski Patrol refreshers in last Sunday I spent the day at South Seattle Community Collage teaching CPR for the Ski Patrollers. This Saturday I will be up at Alpental for the annual first aid refresher. Weather permitting on Thursday I am planning a quick trip down to Portland for the day. Planning on going back to Orlando on the 14th to watch a night launch of the Space Shuttle. When is the strike going to be over your guess is as good as mine. Here is my guess right before the ski areas open so think snow!

Strike day 20, Thursday;
Spent the day at the Kennedy Space Center they have a nice tour well worth the extra bucks (not that I have any right now) I took the NASA up close tour. On the tour we got to see the two shuttles on launch pads 39A & 39B what a sight. Right now I’m sitting at the Orlando airport to see if I have a seat back to Seattle.

Strike day 18 Tuesday
Strike day 18 Tuesday,
Right now I’m at 39,000 feet for this is travel day on Alaska Airlines flight 18 to Orlando Florida. I don’t like heading east it’s a five hour flight then you have the three hour time change. Leave at 8:45 AM Seattle time get there 4:50 PM Orlando time the whole day gone. When I get it there will be time for a swim, dinner then figure what I’m going to do on Wednesday.
Got my rental car a nice Blue Dodge Avenger you think traffic is bad is Seattle, wait they nickel and dime with tolls around here well actuality .75 cents every time you turn around. Had dinner with the King (Burger King) in the end I found the motel after getting lost and paying more tolls. In the morning I will head somewhere and I will know when I get there.

Strike Day 12 Wednesday
Wednesday September 17 my son and I flew down two San Francisco for the day. The mission was to go to get some Ghirardelli chocolate for my wife. We had a nice flight down on Alaska Airlines arriving at 8:30 in the morning. Now off to get to San Francisco from the airport (SFO) is easy it cost $10.70 round trip on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transportation) get off at the Powell station. That leaves you at one end of the Cable Car route with the cost of $5.00 per ride or $11.00 all day. At the other end of the Cable Car route you end up either at Ghirardelli Square or Fishermans Wharf. A clam chowder Lunch at Fishermans Wharf then went over to Musee Mecanique a museum of old coin operated items. Took a walk down to Ghirardelli Square and scored the chocolate for my wife. My brother that lives in Fremont came down for a while. Time to head back to Seattle taking the Cable Car to Powell Street hopping on the Bart to the Airport (SFO) and finally Alaska Airlines to get home from San Francisco. Next up who knows what next week will bring.

Day Two Sunday
Day Two Sunday
Can you say football baby! Well the Seattle Seahawks lost starting out just right, zero and one. The only way we can go from here is up. Went shopping spent of my "points" (gift cards) at Lowes. (for the non Boeing you can get points for at-a-boys then trade them in for gift cards). Still planning North to Alaska on Tuesday, flights pretty full on Monday.
